Following the last update on 3rd August (below), it appears the appetite to resume league matches just isn’t there. This is a combination of factors including clubs not opening, travel issues, safety fears, safety protocols etc. All perfectly understandable in these strange times.

As a result, the committee’s current thinking is to postpone the starting of the new season until January next year (with the new season having an adjusted fixture list to accommodate the reduced time window, maybe more divisions with fewer teams etc.).

So from now until the end of this year, we’d like all outstanding fixtures/matches to be played if possible, whilst following all the appropriate government safety guidelines.

Guidelines change constantly, so we will review the situation regularly and provide feedback.

Please feel free to contact the committee as any suggestions on how to best tackle these issues are more than welcome.

August 3rd 2020

During these difficult times, as lockdown sanctions are slowly lifting. It might be possible to complete outstanding matches.

The biggest issue is some clubs aren't open yet. Obviously, safety is the number 1 priority. But if matches can be played safely, it might be the start of things returning to normality.

There is no pressure to complete outstanding games. But if delegates feel matches can go ahead (safely), please make the appropriate arrangements.

Please follow all the recommended govenment guidlines when considering the playing of matches. This includes travel, environment and playing facilities.

Also, the committee would like to know (if possible) any team delegates plans/thoughts going forward i.e are clubs open/are they willing and able to resume league play? This feedback can used to judge if/when the new league season can begin.

Thanks

To all league players and delegates.

Due to the current unpresidented Coronavirus pandemic, the league committee has decided to suspend all matches, competitions and meetings for the next few months.

An initial review of the situation was planned following todays matches (Tues 17th March). But since the govenments recent guidlines on social distancing. The decision to suspend was implemented.

Due to the high average age of our league players and the potential closing of venues. We've taked a safety first approach.

We'll constantly review the siutuation and provide updates as and when avaiable.

Thanks for your understanding.

The league committee.
